Raising Awareness One Step at a Time

Credited to Digitalart
My friend and colleague, David Meggitt, has embarked on an exciting challenge.  He will be completing a marathon on May 6th in Colorado.

What's exciting about this, is that all of the money he raises goes to children of alcoholics and addicts.  David is running to raise awareness and to encourage donations to the Colorado Children's Program, of which he is the program manager.

Growing up in a family with addiction, David has taken this project on as a professional and personal challenge.

Read more about his journey in this on-line article at the Betty Ford Center.  To follow his progress and training, check out his blog.

I have no doubt that David will reach his goal!  Way to go!

Go For It!

I just found out that one of my very best friends, Cindy, is featured this month in Maine Women magazine  as a successful woman entrepreneur.  The title of her feature is a quote by her:  "Don't quit, keep your eye on the goal, and go for it."  This pretty much sums her life up!

I am so proud of her, but honestly have always been in awe of her drive and ambition.  She's one of those people that you kind of step back and shake your head, wondering where she gets her self-confidence and energy.

She's always been great to have around.  Goal and solution oriented, when you want advice or honest feedback, Cindy's the one to go to.  I've been her friend for almost 20 years and am so very blessed to have her in my life.  Congratulations Cindy!

Possessing What You Give; Self Care

Working with children who are dealing with difficulties in their young lives can be tough as well as inspiring. No matter how long I've been doing it, there are times when I feel my heart breaking. I may connect with a certain child or their story. I might have memories of when I was a child. My own grief issues may pop up. Self-care is crucial. I am reminded of this as I train others, especially those who are new to the work. Here are some things to remember that have helped me:
